Rivian’s 2025.06 Update Brings Easy Wheel Swaps

If you’ve ever wanted to swap out your Rivian’s wheels without the hassle of a service visit, good news—Rivian’s upcoming 2025.06 software update is making that possible! This new feature lets R1T and R1S owners change their vehicle’s wheel and tire configurations right from the in-vehicle software, making seasonal tire swaps and off-road upgrades way easier.

What's Changing

Up until now, changing your wheels meant booking a service appointment just so Rivian could update the vehicle’s software to recognize the new setup. That’s a bit of a pain, especially for those who love to switch things up for different terrains or seasons. With this new update, Rivian is finally letting owners take control and adjust their wheel configurations themselves. Just swap the wheels, select the correct setup in the system, and you’re good to go—no service visit needed.

Gen 1 & Gen 2 Wheel Compatibility

Another cool detail that came from Rivian VP of Software Development Wassym Bensaid—Gen 2 wheels will work with Gen 1 vehicles. That means if you’re rocking an older R1T or R1S and you’ve been eyeing those newer wheels, you’ll be able to use them without any issues. Just swap and select in the software, and your Rivian will recognize the change.

Why This Matters

This update is a game-changer for Rivian owners who like to switch between all-terrain tires for off-roading, winter tires for harsh conditions, or even just freshen up their look. It also saves time and reduces trips to the service center, which is always a win in my book.

Rivian keeps rolling out updates that make owning one of their vehicles even better, and this is just another example of how they’re listening to owners and making the experience smoother. Can’t wait to see what’s next!y.
